How do I get author privileges?
You may have received an e-mail inviation to be an author on this site. If not, send Jay Robinson an requesting author privileges and I will send you a message with instructions on how to get hooked up.
Once you have a username and password, remember that these are your Special Gifts. Do not give them to a boy in the back seat of a car just because he tells you he thinks you’re pretty. And remember, I cannot restore your password just because you find out that boy you lost it to is taking Jennifer McNellis to the prom. I won’t know your password, and I will have to DELETE your account. Believe me: though it will sadden me deeply, I will DELETE you in a heartbeat if I have to.
So, write it down.
How do I post an entry?
How’s about you build a time machine, go back to the early 1980s, and get yourself a TI-99/4A? Learn to program it in BASIC, saving your programs on the tape drive using audio cassettes. What’s that?! AUDIO CASSETTES! They were little self-enclosed reel to reel… oh, forget it.
Anyway. Fast Forward. Teach yourself HTML, XML, and Cascading Style Sheets. Hand-code a few websites. Learn DreamWeaver and GoLive.
Now you’re ready to post.
But if you’re the kind of slacker punk kid I’m sure you are, you’ll want some sort of shortcut. Here is a link to a TypePad tutorial on posting. If you are having trouble, send me an e-mail and I will post it for you.
What can I post?
Scenes, open letters, notes, events, interesting links, comments on current events, excerpts from your dream journal, rants, raves, movie reviews and recipes. I maintain a separate weblog, Myopia, so I will likely be adding links to that site. Add anything and everything you want to share, or comment on other people's posts.
Feel free to post low-resolution photographs (640 x 480 or smaller) but please link offsite to larger images or large sets of photos. Ofoto, Shutterfly, and Flickr are excellent free sites for photo albums, and you can post links like this back here on Dialogue.
This weblog shares server space and bandwidth with my site Myopia, so I reserve the right to remove any very large attachments. When in doubt, share it with us, but bear in mind that it may not have an unlimited life span on this site.
My name's not on the Characters list. Why?
In the interest of protecting people's privacy, I will not add them without an explicit request. Send me an e-mail requesting that I add you. Your e-mail address will be encrypted to protect it from spiders. Provide your web address, if you would like to give people a link to your site.
